Seriously? Is It Just Me…

Posts Tagged ‘blogging

Apparently my life has become a touch out of control lately, as I’m rather busy running around frantically doing…absolutely nothing. I wish I could say I have been busy writing a book, volunteering for a charity or cleaning out my closets but alas I’ve done none of those things.

If I’m perfectly honest, I have been spending the majority of my free time working my way (successfully I might add) through the five phases of the highly addictive mobile phone game, Angry Birds*. Oh, and I knocked out the Angry Birds’ season edition as well, but that’s hardly anything to boast about given that I should be posting a blog every week.

Angry Birds Addiction

Just Say No!

Unfortunately, my addiction to Angry Birds has caught up with me, as I’ve now waited until the last minute to pull together my presentation on “social media for today’s financial leaders” that I’m expected to give next week at my former/new employer, Bank Director’s, annual M&A conference in Scottsdale.

Of course, I’m panicking because I have no idea what to expect with a room full of mostly senior white men who have spent the majority of their careers successfully leading financial institutions rather than effectively using technology to communicate.

So this week, instead of spending the level of quality time I require on my blog posts, I’ve decided I need to focus on what the hell I’m going to say to these guys so that I can sound relatively intelligent. Therefore, while I’m off in sunny (Hallelujah, I get to see the sun again — don’t hate) Arizona next week, feel free to read a post or two from some bloggers who I’ve connected with over the past few months:

Okay, so now I’ve got to work on my presentation…oh wait, you know what would help me focus? Knowing what I’m going to wear during my session because really that is more important than what I have to say, seriously?

* If you have no free time but want to spend your time playing an awesomely entertaining yet mindless game, then check it out.

It’s my belief that every wise woman should take the time to reflect upon her life and acknowledge any life lessons she has learned. With it being the last day of 2008, it only seems appropriate that I blog about the top 5 things I learned this past year.

1. “Sinners Have Souls Too!” including me and Kim. And who would have thought that we would have found a cool church that embraced us for who we are with no judgments. Yea God!

2. Planning a wedding takes a lot of work. And if you aren’t careful you can lose months of your life in the process. I’m pretty sure we had a summer this past year, but we spent most of it helping plan the Fabulous Wedding of my sister.

3. I’m NOT a fan of all God’s creatures. Actually, I already knew this but after facing iguanas in Aruba and then maggots in my closet, I can without a doubt now add these two critters to my already long list.

4. History Ain’t So Bad After All, especially when you have a hand in it. What a wonderful and memorable experience it was to watch the USA elect their first black president. I heart Obama!

5. Face to face interaction is essential to any relationship. Look, I’m all for technology – I love Facebook, can’t go anywhere without my iPhone, enjoy telling stories on our blog, and would be lost without email or texting. But at the end of the day, I need face time, touch time and talk time with the people in my life, and if a man can’t give me that he’s not the one for me. Besides, I’m not quite ready to embrace cybersex.

Just like any year, 2008 had its ups and its downs, but it turned out to be a good personal growth year. However, I’m looking forward to the new year – Everything’s FINE in OH-9!

Happy New Year Everyone…Seriously!

Well, it’s official. Kim and Mika are now part of the blogging world. It dawned on me last night that it is time to completely embrace this new technical world we live in – dating via text messages, acquiring facebook friends, IM’ing co-workers on a project, and now blogging about our lives. I’m finally okay with it and I’ve convinced my BFF, Kim, that she should be okay with it too. So here we are…

For those who know us well, this shouldn’t be a surprise. The life and times of Kim and Mika has entertained the masses for 10 years. Now we want to share it with the world. We are calling it Seriously? because some days we look at each other, shake our heads and say seriously, this is our life?

We hope you enjoy the random thoughts, anecdotes and lessons learned from the stories of our lives.
